After dropping the first set to visiting Newton, the Lady Hawk JV volleyball team came back out on the floor and took control of the match. The first set seemed to be going their way, but a few poor serve receives and errors towards the end of the match let the Indians get to the finish first at 21-25. Due to some awesome serving, great defense, and smart offense, MV was able to dominate sets 2 & 3. The Lady Hawks never gave the visitors a chance to catch up, as they took the match with scores of 25-11 & 25-13 respectively.
“I told the team that they only had a few matches left, so why not win them all, get fired up and win, win, win. After the first set and a short talk, repeating what I said at the beginning, the sparks came alive and the energy level just went up to the roof!” commented Coach Longfellow. “I think they celebrated the good plays more than they have all season and that’s what they need to keep them going!”
